Don’t you dare drag me, the Bakcheion, our god Dionysos or the difficult and serious work that was done by these talented and devoted folks over the Many Gods West weekend into your bullshit online arguments.
Who attended, who didn’t, their reasons for doing so and the experiences they had or didn’t have are their own fucking business. That’s not to be poked, dissected and sifted through like some specimen on the table and it sure as shit isn’t any kind of indicator of one’s level of piety or closeness to the gods. If I had even a shred of doubt about cutting ties with what’s become of the pan-polytheist movement this most assuredly has removed them.
My fiancé Galina said it well in her piece We Can Do Better:
This is basic courtesy, the foundation of hospitality, which is an essential component of nearly all of our diverse polytheist traditions.
If you’ve lost sight of that you’ve lost sight of everything that matters.
Be better, damn it.
How about we cut out the rockstar swagger and empty posturing and focus on something that truly matters for a change like our gods, our spirits, our heroes and honored dead and strengthening the beautiful and sacred traditions associated with them?
