In the post before last I mentioned the lunar calendar, which reminded me of Ruadhán’s New Boeotian calendar which has been getting some rave reviews.
While there I stumbled across some comments by Todd Jackson that are so stomach-churningly horrible I’m not going to quote them here. If you want to know without clicking, Todd is basically arguing that it isn’t possible for men to be raped. I imagine a lot of the folks mentioned in Sarah Thompson’s post would beg to differ – if they hadn’t been murdered after being raped. Not to suggest that this is somehow a trans issue. I know plenty of guys – straight, gay and the whole gamut of sexual expression – who have had unwanted encounters, with or without violence involved.
Any violation of consent is wrong, full stop. It doesn’t matter who is involved or what lead up to it – the second someone says no, that’s it. Anything beyond that is rape in my book.
What makes this so vile is that Todd has a position of authority within the Hellenic community and plans to build a temple for Apollon in Las Vegas. In the aftermath of Kenny Klein’s arrest a couple people said that that kind of thing couldn’t happen in Hellenismos. I pray we never find out just how wrong they were.
