Daybreak

So apparently Christian Day has apologized for outing people and telling a woman he hoped her stalker finds and rapes her and that’s supposed to make everything magically better.

That woman, stronger and more courageous than any person should ever have to be, posted this earlier today:

…because I have NOT been able to do that much over the last few days. Relaxing is going to be a harder story, given that I feel like I have a giant “STALK ME!” sign hanging on my ass, but Im going to have to learn how again. I can’t go all anti-social (well… MORE anti-social) if Im going to muscle my way forward.

Sadly, I was reminded last night of one of the most horrifying moments of my life, and… Im not quite sure Im ok yet. But, Im getting this story OUT of me.

After the first package arrived with it’s contents of desiccated bird heads, plastic sacks, and a note that took a year off of my life for every word, all I wanted to do was figure out who. I was scared… more scared than I have ever, ever been.

I have been alive a lot of years… but nothing, NOTHING will ever touch the sheer panic I felt that night as I laid on my daughters toddler bed with a sleeping child clasped on each side, tears running down my face, sobs locked into my chest because I dident want to wake the girls.

The note… That disgusting note played in my head like a fucking nursery rhyme, over and over, and shotgun ripped into my heart.

“I’ll let you pick how the little ones die.”

No. Im not really over all that yet… Even though it’s years in my past, the helplessness, the fear of not knowing who was out there, sick in mind and head has never truly left me.

Amorella Moon was a cushion of comfort for many years… A way for me to claim parts of my life back.

That small comfort, that modicum of safety provided by a pseudonym was stripped from her by Day in order to make some kind of point in an online argument.

Is his half-assed apology and crocodile tears going to give that back to her?

No.

Should we forgive and forget?

Fuck no!

Especially since this is far from the first time he’s pulled a stunt like this.

This sniveling worm, this nidhing deserves to have his livelihood taken from him.

He’s got two shops in Salem – people should contact the property owners and notify them what kind of person they’re renting to. He’s on the board of Destination Salem, the city’s tourism agency – how do you think they’d like someone of his character representing their city? Every time he tries to host an event or release a book he should be met with a boycott. Every radio show he does, people should call in and ask him uncomfortable questions. Every time he’s scheduled to make an appearance or teach a class the organizers should be reminded of what he’s done and what message their support of him is sending about the community.

Our words and our deeds have consequences. Let Christian Day and all like him never forget that.
